Homebirth Midwifery Care
Homebirth Midwifery Care is for low-risk pregnant moms. Midwifery care is traditionally respectful and compassionate care. It is also tailored to your individual needs and I definitely offer this kind of care in my practice. I also provide evidenced-based education to help you make informed choices throughout your pregnancy, labor & delivery, and postpartum experiences.
As a homebirth midwife I provide prenatal care, labor and birth care, and postpartum care.

- Prenatal Care: Prenatal care can start as early as 8 weeks up or at the latest 36 weeks. Prenatal appointments are scheduled every 4 weeks from 8- 32 weeks. After 32 weeks prenatal appointments are scheduled every 2 weeks until 36 weeks. After 36 weeks prenatal appointments are scheduled every week until 42 weeks. After 42 weeks prenatal appointments will be scheduled as needed. During prenatal care your appointments are usually 45 min- 1 hour long and in the comfort of your home. We will discuss your overall well-being, as well as your emotional well-being. I will do physical assessments of mom including monitoring blood pressure, pulse, and urinalysis. The physical assessments for baby includes measurement of uterus for growth, palpating the uterus for growth and baby's position, and listening to the baby's heart rate. We will also discuss a few childbirth education topics to prepare your for your homebirth experience.
- Labor & Birth Care: Once you are in early labor we will be in close communication by phone and once your labor changes to active labor I will join you and your family for labor support and guidance, monitoring of mom and baby's vitals, safe delivery of the baby and placenta, and close monitoring of mom and baby during immediate postpartum care which is normally 2-4 hours after birth. Additionally I offer waterbirth and lotus birth at the request of the family or any special religious or sacred ancestral birthing experiences.
- Postpartum Care: Postpartum care is scheduled at 24-36 hours after birth, 3 days after birth, 1 week after birth, 2 weeks after birth, 4 weeks after birth (optional depending on mom and baby's well-being), and 6 weeks after birth. During postpartum care I offer breastfeeding support, monitoring of baby's weight gain, assessment of jaundice, newborn metabolic screening, CCHD screening, and completing the birth certificate worksheet to be filed at the county or city clerk.
